The AAA-131U2 controller card works fine with raid 5 under Windows XP, without installed drivers. You have to use the Windows 2000 drivers to install Windows XP, after instalation, XP will tell you the drivers will not work, so DO NOT USE THEM, but everything still work fine including the software needed to rebuild a raid 5 configuration!

The adapter is perfectly detected at setup. Great
speed under all conditions. I did not try the Adaptec 1.00 drivers though.

Windows XP provides no driver support for the Adaptec's AAA-UDMA. Additionally Adaptec provides no driver support for the AAA-UDMA under Windows XP. However, I've found the AAA-UDMA RAID controller to function without error in Windows XP using version 4.40.09 ("44009") of the Win2k drivers available on Adaptec's support site (www.adaptec.com) NOTE: I haven't tested the filter driver or the CI/O Management software under WinXP. Without the filter driver, the AAA-UDMA may not enter "low power" states (sleep mode, hibernation, etc.) properly. Additionally, I STRONGLY recommend that you backup any sensitive data you may be storing on this controller before running it under WinXP, as your results may differ from mine.

This card works perfectly on Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server with the original NT Driver as the f6 driver under setup.After it will say no drivers installed. But it works and you can an adaptec 131ca driver for win2k I found on driver guide which will add the devices in device manager. Adaptec is not wholly honest in that they said there is no driver for W2k/XP/2k3

V2.0 and V3.0 driver README file states "not supported for multi-processor systems". Attempts to use these Adaptec drivers result in frequent blue screens and/or serious corruption of the registry's SYSTEM hive. Some improvement with Microsoft USB2 drivers from Windows Update, but the hardware is really not recommended for SMP systems at present.

If You go to the Iomega site there is more information. But, you need to adjust the IRQ and I/O jumpers on the SCSI card manually before trying to install the drivers in XP.

Using Adaptecs beta driver and 1130U2 bios you can get the RAID controller working under win2000. BUT as far as i know you can't Install win2000 on this device or install it during win2000 setup. you have to wait till windows is installed then install it. otherwise it makes the win2000 install process take over 5 hours due to I/O conflicts and the system running very slow. Seems this is due to win2000 seeing the wrong driver during install and using the U2 settings instead of the UW.

Have to download the Beta drivers. During install, press F6 and insert floppy disk. No need to install NT4 first then upgrade to Windows 2000.

WORKS. Personal web site www.carste.com is using it and running Windows 2000 without a problem. Make sure that you are running this daughter card with an officially approved motherboard (listed on adaptec's sight) and not an older RAIDport II slot. I had to upgrade my motherboard to one that was on the listing to be able to flash the bios.
